Absolutely no one… Not Congress. Not the Minnesota Secretary of State. Not the Democrat-Socialist party of Minnesota. Not even the Federal Election Commission (FEC) have verified Ilhan Abdullahi Omar’s U.S. citizenship.
No one is the gatekeeper.
American citizens are unable to verify that foreign-born federal candidates are, in fact, naturalized citizens meeting Constitutional qualifiers of Article I, Section 2, Clause 2:
“No Person shall be a Representative who shall not have attained to the Age of twenty five Years, and been seven Years a Citizen of the United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State in which he shall be chosen.”
Government should be transparent. American citizens should have the ability to verify that all foreign-born citizens actually do meet all U.S. constitutional qualifications before running for office, especially federal office. But, currently the American people do not have that right. We are not able to ensure that our founding document, the U.S. Constitution, is being respected.
A simple google search does not satisfy any inquiry into Omar’s mysterious citizenship. Snopes also gave it a shot with no success…
“Although Omar's account makes sense… we were unable to locate any official documentation that supports that version of events. We asked Omar's spokesperson and district director to provide any official documentation that would confirm the date of her naturalization, but we received no such evidence.”
A June 20, 2023 letter from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) federal agency confirms that Ilhan Omar could not have naturalized as a 17 year old minor in 2000, as she claims, because after a thorough records search there are no documents of her father naturalizing.
You’d think Republican members of Congress, especially Minnesota members, would take the USCIS letter and file a complaint with the U.S. House Ethics Committee… but, you would be wrong. The MN GOP are not only failing to act but are actually aiding Ilhan Omar by claiming there are many ways to become a U.S. citizen. This is a false claim.
According to the USCIS web page, there are only two ways for adults to apply for naturalization.
If you do not marry a U.S. citizen you have a five year waiting period before you may apply for citizenship:
Naturalization is the way that a noncitizen not born in the United States voluntarily becomes a U.S. citizen. The most common path to U.S. citizenship through naturalization is being a lawful permanent resident (LPR) for at least five years.
If you do marry a U.S. citizen you have a three year waiting period before you may apply for citizenship:
Have been living in marital union with your U.S. citizen spouse during the three years immediately before the date you file your application…
Minor children may ‘derive’ citizenship through a parent who has naturalized. This is what Ilhan Omar claims… that she derived citizenship through her father.
derivation involves being a child of a foreign national who became a U.S. citizen before the child turned 18.
HOWEVER, according to a USCIS letter, there are no records of her father naturalizing.
I filed to run in the 2022 MN Democrat primary challenging Ilhan Omar in order to have ‘standing’ to request the court verify Omar’s citizenship. My effort failed. The judge stated that it is the job of Congress to monitor it’s own. So, where is Congress? Where are the MN GOP?
I have filed a complaint with the Federal Election Committee (FEC). Until Omar provides a certified copy of her records from the USCIS… the FEC should not allow Omar to campaign and raise funds.
“This is a request for the Federal Election Commission (FEC) to verify Congresswoman Ilhan Abdullahi Omar’s U.S. citizenship. Ms. Omar claims to have derived citizenship as a minor when her father allegedly naturalized. However, she could not have derived citizenship from him because her father Nur Omar Mohamed (a.k.a. Nur Said Elmi Mohamed; Nur Said) never naturalized. According to a U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) letter signed by Robert Busey, FOIA Operations Program Manager, National Records Center, there are no naturalization documents for Omar’s father, Nur Omar Mohamed (a.k.a. Nur Said Elmi Mohamed; Nur Said). Omar could not have derived citizenship through her father as a 17-year-old minor in 2000 as she claims. She also could not have derived citizenship from her mother because she never immigrated to the United States. Omar is in violation of 52 U.S.C. § 30124, Fraudulent misrepresentation of campaign authority (a) In general and (b) Fraudulent solicitation of funds.”
I amended my FEC complaint MUR 8171 after receiving the U.S. Department of Homeland Security: Certificate of Nonexistence of Record. Click here to read additional information submitted to the Federal Election Commission.
